Meet Colin, Our Roaster

By far the most important component to our business is the roaster, and we're so fortunate to have Colin, who in our view is one of the most experienced and skilled roasters in the UK. Colin is a founder member of the Speciality Coffee Association of Europe and was President from 2005-7. Give him a bean and he'll probably be able to tell you where it's from and no doubt its life history, so we try not to do that on a regular basis.

Colin works closely with us when buying to ensure that in the first place only the finest quality beans are purchased. We then go through the lengthy tasting process for each specific coffee which ultimately results in how a particular bean is roasted as this allows us to then recommend its ideal use i.e. best suited for a certain machine, time of day and it's strength.

His experience and knowledge are continually expanding. In recent years Colin has been to, Papua New Guinea, India, Kenya, Zambia, Costa Rica, Colombia Panama & Hawaii. Visiting the farms and tasting the coffees at origin has expanded his experience of the product and through hands on work in the roasting and blending processes he is able to advise on coffees that will be suitable for all sorts of infusion methods.

We want you our customer's to have the confidence that what you buy is going to be the very best, and every process the bean goes through from being picked, roasted, ground and then bagged for you has been overseen by Colin.
